In a time when buyers are more cost-conscious than ever, it comes as a surprise to us the Rogue starts nearly $1k higher than the Tucson. Based on this we'd assume the Rogue has more standard equipment to justify the additional cost - but does it? Let's find out!

Safety

Ever the value player in the market, Hyundai includes active driver assist features in the base Tucson SE model typically reserved for SUVs costing twice as much including:

  • Smart Cruise Control w/Stop & Go
  • Lane Keeping Assist
  • Lane Following Assist
  • Safe Exit Warning

Shockingly, considering its higher starting price the Rogue is playing catch-up in the safety category. Nissan only includes passive warning-based safety tech that has been standard on Hyundai models for years and quite commonplace these days such as:

  • Blind Spot Monitoring
  • Automatic Emergency Braking
  • Rear CrossTraffic Assist

Performance

One of the best attributes of the 2025 Tucson is the way it moves down the road. The standard 2.4-liter 4-cylinder engine mated to a Hyundai-designed 8-speed automatic transmission treats its driver to a serene and quiet cabin more akin to a luxury vehicle than a compact SUV.

While Nissan put a lot of effort into developing the 2025 Rogue the driving experience comes up short compared to the Tucson. Nissan's dimwitted CVT transmission is slow to respond during aggressive acceleration. Like other Nissan products, it emits an excessive droning noise creating a low-rent feel that doesn't live up to the hype surrounding this new for 2025 model.

Interior

As expected, the cabin of the 2025 Tucson is a very high-class place to be. Climb in after a long day at work and you'll be comfortable all the way home. Soft-touch materials provide an upscale feel, something not present in other brands without spending thousands on trim packages and upgrades. Simple yet elegant, the controls layout is an ergonomic masterclass, maintaining a set of actual buttons for climate control when rivals have eliminated them in favor of a touch screen. Speaking of which, the Tucson comes standard with the largest one in its class at 12.3 inches.

You may be wondering how the new for 2025 Rogue's interior stacks up. While it has been thoughtfully revised over the previous generation it doesn't provide as compelling of a package as the Tucson. We were surprised to find out the standard infotainment screen is only 8 inches to the Tucson's 12.3, and let's not forget it also has a higher starting price. Finally, while the Tucson is notably the most spacious vehicle in this class, the Rogue's rear seat is not as kind to taller passengers who will find their legs quite snug against the front seats.

While the 2025 Nissan Rogue is much improved over its predecessor, it can't match the more compelling powertrain, standard driver-assist tech, and upscale and quiet cabin all for a lower starting price.
